We at Megan's Mini Golden Retrievers are committed to creating a miniaturized version of the classic Golden Retriever. Our goal is to develop a dog with the same gentle, loyal temperament and classic golden look, but in a smaller, 15-20 lb package. This ideal breed is meant to fit seamlessly into family life, making a wonderful companion that’s both easy to handle and packed with charm.

Golden Retriever
Purpose in the Program:
The Golden Retriever is the foundation of our breeding program. This breed is renowned for its intelligence, trainability, and calm temperament, making it an ideal candidate for creating a new miniaturized breed with family-friendly traits.
Traits We Hope to Pass On:
Temperament: Friendly, reliable, and eager to please. Golden Retrievers are naturally social and good with children and other animals.
Intelligence and Trainability: They are one of the most intelligent dog breeds, which will allow our mini Golden Retrievers to easily learn commands and adapt to family routines.
Service Qualities: Gracie, our foundation golden retriever, is a certified service dog with experience in autism and medical alert work, bringing valuable calm and attentiveness to our new breed.
Golden Look: The classic golden coat color, gentle expression, and well-proportioned body of a Golden Retriever will be reflected in our miniature version.

Purpose in the Program:
The Chihuahua brings compact size and spirited personality, crucial for helping us downsize while maintaining a confident, loyal companion. Our selected Chihuahua is Arcanine, a long-haired, AKC-registered dog with a soft, flowing coat, which will blend well with the Golden Retriever’s coat.
Traits We Hope to Pass On:
Compact Size: Chihuahuas weigh only a few pounds, making them perfect for reducing the overall size of our mini Golden Retrievers.
Loyalty and Alertness: Known for their close attachment to their families and alert nature, Chihuahuas are protective and loving, contributing to a keen, devoted personality.
Energy and Personality: Chihuahuas bring a lively, big-dog energy despite their size, which adds to the breed's overall enthusiasm.
